80th Birthday Party Menu: End-of-Summer BBQ

With the end of summer, we hosted a BBQ dinner to celebrate Pat’s 80th birthday. Another great backyard party, with the help this time of my brother and sister-in-law. I served roasted leg of lamb (from Sierra Farms Lamb); Grilled chicken; Farro salad with artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes; Savory tomato bread pudding; Green pea, bacon and cashew salad (brought by Linda); and a large fruit bowl with strawberries and blueberries (also Linda). Cakes were from Copenhagen Bakery in Burlingame – a truly outstanding Lemon Chiffon Cake, as well as a Chocolate with Chocolate Raspberry Buttercream Cake.

We poured a 2009 Satrico Lazio Bianco, 2007 Camins del Priorat Alvaro Palacios, and for the champagne toast, Mumm Napa Brut Prestige. When we ran out of the Priorat, we pulled out a couple 2005 Turley Zins. Tasty!
